  • 1 lb ground turkey meat thigh meat preferred
  • 1 medium red onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup fresh parsley minced
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • Cheese slices optional

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped red onion, minced parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Form the turkey mixture into 4 to 6 evenly sized patties. Shape them flat and wide to prevent shrinkage during cooking.
  • Grill the patties over medium heat for approximately 7 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Add cheese slices during the last 2 minutes of cooking, if desired.
  • Serve the hot turkey burgers immediately. Consider serving on a potato roll bun with your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mayonnaise.

Notes

Shape patties flat and wide to minimize shrinkage relative to bun size. Cheese (Swiss preferred by author) should be added 2 minutes before removal from grill. Suggested serving includes potato roll bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Pan-frying is an alternative to grilling. Fresh herbs can be substituted for parsley.
