Soft Flour Tortillas: Easy and Deliciously Versatile

These soft flour tortillas are easy to make and incredibly versatile, perfect for tacos, burritos, or wraps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • cup very warm water about 160ml
  • 5 tablespoons light flavored oil or melted fat can use shortening, lard, or butter

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve the salt in warm water and stir until fully dissolved.
  • Mix flour and oil in a bowl until crumbly, then gradually add salt water to form a shaggy dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until smooth, then let it rest covered for at least 15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 10 portions, roll each into an 8-inch round.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each tortilla for 1-2 minutes, flipping when bubbles form.
  • Keep cooked tortillas warm under a dishcloth while cooking the rest.

Notes

For best results, fluff flour before measuring and consider using whole wheat flour. Store leftovers in a resealable bag at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
