Slow Cooker Brown Sugar and Cola Glazed Ham

Ingredients
  

  • 1 (8 to 9-pound) fully cooked, bone-in spiral cut ham
  • 1 can cola (Coke or Dr. Pepper)
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • ΒΌ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Place the ham in a slow cooker that is at least 6 quarts in size.
  • Reserve 1/2 cup of cola for the glaze and pour the remaining cola over the ham.
  • Combine the reserved cola, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, ground mustard, and black pepper in a bowl, then pour over the ham.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
  • Uncover and rub the remaining brown sugar over the ham, then cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
  • Transfer the ham to a serving platter.
  • Pour 2 cups of the cooking liquid into a saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook until thickened.
  • Serve the ham with the thickened glaze.

Notes

Light or dark brown sugar can be used. Any cola variety is suitable, including Coke and Dr. Pepper. Substitute ground mustard with Dijon mustard if unavailable. For added spice, include cayenne pepper in the glaze.
