Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ¼ cup neutral oil (canola or vegetable) plus more for grilling
  • 2 cloves garlic grated or minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce preferably low-sodium
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 lb bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces

Instructions
 

  • Combine BBQ sauce, oil, garlic, soy sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl, reserving ¼ cup for later.
  • Coat the chicken in the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high, clean, and oil the grates.
  • Grill the chicken skin side down, flipping and basting with reserved sauce until it reaches 165ºF, about 20 minutes.
  • Serve the chicken immediately.

Notes

Prepare the marinade in advance and store it in an airtight container. Marinate the chicken overnight for enhanced flavor, and feel free to experiment with different BBQ sauces.
