Ingredients
  

Apple Crisp Filling

  • 4 lbs firm-crisp apples 11-12 medium apples
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour or cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon

Crumb Topping

  • 1 ¾ cups flour or gluten-free flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 cup rolled oats old-fashioned

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and butter a 9×13 casserole dish.
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick pieces, then toss with lemon juice.
  • Mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl, sprinkle over apples, and transfer to the casserole dish.
  • Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl, then mix in butter until crumbly.
  • Spread the topping over the apples and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For tart apples like Granny Smith, increase sugar to 1 cup. Store covered for 1 day or refrigerate for 3-5 days; can be frozen for up to 3 months.
