Ingredients
  

  • 1 (28 oz) can baked beans
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 slices bacon optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a 9-inch ovenproof skillet or a 2.5-quart baking dish, combine the canned baked beans, brown sugar, yellow mustard, and ketchup. Stir until well mixed.
  • If using bacon, arrange the slices on top of the bean mixture.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges are bubbling and the center is hot.
  • Serve the baked beans warm.

Notes

Oven baking is preferred for a caramelized texture and thickened consistency. For best results with bacon, partially cook it before adding or use chopped cooked bacon. Beans can be served at room temperature or kept warm. For a slow cooker method, combine ingredients and cook on low for 1-2 hours, using double or triple quantities for a 7-quart cooker to prevent burning.
